Austrian Auction 2nd Phase EUAs of the EU ETS
The next auction for Austrian EUAs is scheduled for 23 March 2010. In accordance with the Decree issued by the Austrian Government in January 2009.
The EUA auctioning correlates to the Austrian allocation plan and provides the auction with about 1.3% of the total 33.33 million EUAs. This totals to 2 million EUAs for the 2nd trading period. Therefore, 500,000 EUAs will be auctioned on an annual basis from 2009 to 2012 in 2 auctions per year.
The Austrian Ministry BMLFUW is responsible for the EUA auctions and assigned the auctions to Climex.
The auction in March 2010 consists of two different types, the first is non-competitive (NCA, non competitive auction) and the second, competitive (CA, competitive auction). The NCA grants easy access to even the small companies, taking away any possible disadvantages in comparison to the major participants. The price for the EUAs will be settled during the CA.
1. Part 1 of the auction is the non-competitive auction. About 100,000 EUAs will be auctioned during the first, non-competitive part. The maximum capacity per buyer is 2,500 EUAs.
